Wedding

Some progress on our wedding planning….

Update make-up and hair. After a trial run I booked my hair and make-up stylist for the day. Her name is Nicole Thompson and she did service Mrs. Pootiekins wedding day.

Update ceremony music: I decided to hire the following musicians to play at and during our ceremony. Her name is Michelle Whitson Stone. She is a harpist and her company name is harpworksmusic . She will be performing together with a flutist. We haven’t decided on any piece yet but we still got a bit some time left.

Update wedding favors: I also got our wedding favors. Yay! And they so much match the colors of our wedding. Surprise surprise =)

Update e-pics:

We had a wonderful e-session with our photographer at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Santa Monica Beach and Pier. For more pics, click here.

Update Hanbok: Yay! My sister in law got me a real nice Hanbok straight from Seoul. It was exactly what I was looking for. She picked the exact colors I wanted. Gampsahamnida! I love it.

Update Florist: I finally got convinced to book a florist and not to go the DIY route. Sonia will do our flowers. I had her made me a sample centrepiece of what I envisioned the centrepiece to look liken with the flowers I wanted and it turned out great. We will have a mix of tall and low centrepieces. The flowers will by roses, hydrangeas, tulips and cury willow.

Bridesmaid jewelry: I also ordered pearl necklaces for my bridesmaids and murano glass earings to match the dresses.

Update Bridesmaid dresses: I ordered the bridesmaid dresses from Anntaylors Celebration Collection. They were a steal. I picked the Avery and Audry style dresses in green and will have a pink sash added. We are currently looking for the perfect shoes to match these dresses.

Update cake topper: I also have ordered the wedding cake topper. I think it is really cute and will reflect our cultural background better.

I ordered the cake topper here

Update Invitations: We have finally send out the first set of wedding invitations. After experimenting around I was finally able to create a set of light green pocketfold invitations with a set of inserts. I have added a pink ribbon around it to reflect my color theme.

Update DJ/MC: We have also booked our wedding DJ for the evening. His name is Steve and his background is Japanese. He has serviced many asian weddings and we feel comfortable as he is also a little older he appears to be more mature. We are confident that he will be able to adress the young as well as the older generation. During our search for a DJ we have come across some crazy ones that were just a bit too wild for our crowd.

Right now I am working on the ceremony program and am still shopping around for a wedding hairstylist and make-up artist as well as the music for the ceremony program

Whoo-hoo-hoo:

I have two great updates.

Update DOC: I was able to secure the service of our Wedding Coordinator Natalie Huynh. She is so sweet and organized. With her on board, I am very confident that the day will be more enjoyable for us. Just knowing that she will be there is such a stress-reliever.

Another great news is that my friend Tanja from Switzerland just confirmed, that she will be able to make it. She will be one of my bridemaids. That is soo awesome!

With Valentine’s day around the corner I figured that it was not worth calling any florist. They are all so occupied and busy that they don’t have the time talking to you nor do they have the nerves to take any appointment before May 18. Fine. I can wait!

Update Registry: We decided not to register since we prefer to get cash instead. Unfortunately my part of the family is pretty big so I can not offend people by not inviting them. This of course all adds up. I hope they will be generous though…*blush*
But what I wish most of all is them to actually attend the wedding. And I do hope that they will make an effort. It would mean alot to me.

If it was just up to us we would have preferred a destination wedding and escape the crowd and save the money but family is what matters most and my mom does matter to me! My cousin told me the wedding is not about you it’s about others. And yes I must agree: she is right!!

Update Flowers: Hmm. I find that to be the toughest part. I really would like to do them myself because it can get soo pricey. But James is right. I would be too preoccupied with other things on the wedding day. Damn. It’s hard to find a florist that can do the flowers you like (my favorites are peonies) for a reasonable price. Will need to keep shopping around for this one…

Update Stationary: I haven’t set my mind on any invitation yet. Also we still need to do the food tasting for the RSVP cards…

My wedding colors: I decided on having pink and green to be my wedding colors.

Ceremony/reception site: This is our current location for the ceremony in Califonia. It’s really beautiful. The reception will be inside and it will be right next to the ceremony site. It is located up on a hill with a beautiful view to the valley. Can’t wait. We are currently planning on having 150-200 people attending our wedding.

Dress: I also got my gown. Yay! It’s a Pronovias Daifa. I will have it altered to fully fit my size and will also have a bustle created in the back. It is a size 8 and I am looking into selling the dress after the wedding. So if there is a bride out there that is interested in it you may contact me at mail@lan-pham.de. The dress will be available in June.

And this is our videographer: Sketchimages. Unfortunately Ronnie won’t be able to shoot the wedding. However I still decided to go ahead and book his two assistants knowing that he will at least be doing the editing part for the video. I hope it will turn out alright. Will post a review after we receive our tapes.

Our Photographer: Studio Q Photography in Los Angeles. The vendor is very nice and we feel that we got a good package for what we wanted. I will post a review after the wedding.

My engagement/wedding ring: As I did not want an extra ring for the wedding as it seems to be the custom here in the US I will stick with the one that James proposed me with. It’s a nice over 1 carat three stone certified diamond ring with a few smaller side stones. It’s soo beautiful.

Maid of Honor: Mai (my cousin)
Bridemaids: Lan (my cousin), Tanja (former co-worker)
Flower girl / Ring bearer: James’ cousin’s daughter / son of a friend
